Fenugreek water is a herbal infusion made by soaking fenugreek seeds in water overnight. Fenugreek seeds, derived from the Trigonella foenum-graecum plant, are small, yellow-brown seeds known for their medicinal properties. To prepare fenugreek water, soak one to two teaspoons of fenugreek seeds in a glass or bottle of water (about 250-500 ml) for at least 8 hours, preferably overnight.

The soaking allows the seeds to release their bioactive compounds, including soluble fibre, saponins, flavonoids, and alkaloids, into the water. These compounds are responsible for fenugreek's various health benefits, such as aiding digestion, regulating blood sugar, and promoting lactation in nursing mothers.

After soaking, the water becomes infused with these beneficial compounds, creating fenugreek water. It can be consumed directly as a drink or used in various ways, such as in herbal teas, smoothies, or added to other beverages. Fenugreek water is valued in traditional medicine for its therapeutic effects and is easy to incorporate into daily health routines for its numerous wellness benefits, says Hyderabad-based nutritionist Ashwini Kumar Saxena.

Digestive health: Fenugreek water aids digestion by soothing the gastrointestinal tract and providing soluble fibre, which helps alleviate constipation and promotes regular bowel movements.
