When Kishore Kumar's son Amit Kumar recalled kicking step-mother Madhubala while sleeping, said, "she told my father 'Aapka ladka bahut laat maarta hai"

Kishore Kumar and Madhubala's love story is one of Bollywood’s most poignant and bittersweet romances. The two married in 1960, but their relationship was marked by emotional strain and Madhubala's declining health. Kishore reportedly did his best to care for her, even moving her to a bungalow with better medical facilities.

Amit Kumar, the son of Kishore Kumar, talked about his relationship with his stepmother Madhubala and recalled the special family dynamics that influenced his early years in one of his interviews.

In an interview with Vickey Lalwani, Amit Kumar shared that he maintained a warm and neutral bond with all of his father's wives. He fondly recalled living with Kishore Kumar and Madhubala, affectionately calling her mummy.

Speaking about Madhubala during his early childhood, he said, "I was comfortable. I never grumbled about anything. I used to call her ‘mummy’ only. She used to come here as well, once or twice. I had a habit of kicking a lot while sleeping at night. Madhu ji used to sleep between me and Baba. Main pair maarta tha, mujhe maalum nahi (I would kick in my sleep)."
