Fans question Pragya Jaiswal’s absence in Akhanda 2; actor Nandamuri Balakrishna clears the air

With Akhanda 2 now released in theatres, the sequel has been drawing strong reactions from audiences. While the film has generated buzz, a section of fans has expressed disappointment over one noticeable absence—Pragya Jaiswal, who played Saranya Bachupally in the 2021 blockbuster Akhanda.

Ever since the sequel hit screens, social media platforms have been flooded with comments from viewers who missed Pragya’s presence. Many fans recalled the emotional weight and grace she brought to her role in the first part, as well as her on-screen chemistry with Nandamuri Balakrishna, which was widely considered one of the highlights of the original film.

Amid the growing discussion, Balakrishna addressed the issue and clarified the reasoning behind the casting decision. He spoke highly of Pragya’s talent and performance in Akhanda, noting that the sequel did not have a sufficiently strong role that could do justice to her earlier portrayal. According to him, including her in a reduced or less impactful role would have diluted the significance of her character from the first film.
