The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Monitoring and Protection (HYDRA) authorities commenced the demolition of the N Convention Center in Madhapur on Saturday. The venue, reportedly owned by Tollywood actor Akkineni Nagarjuna, was targeted for allegedly being constructed on the Full Tank Level (FTL) area of the Tummidikunta lake.
In the early hours of the day, HYDRA officials, accompanied by a police force, arrived at the site and began the demolition process. This action is part of an ongoing crackdown by HYDRA on illegal constructions that have encroached upon water bodies and public lands across Hyderabad.
Spanning 10 acres, the N Convention Center was found to be in violation of multiple land use and environmental regulations. Specifically, the facility had encroached upon 1.12 acres within the FTL of the lake and an additional 2 acres within the lake's designated buffer zone.
Nagarjuna, a well-known figure in the Telugu film industry, has not yet commented publicly on the demolition. The N Convention Center has been a favored location for numerous events, including weddings and corporate functions, making the HYDRA agency's decision to dismantle the structure a significant development.
