Amy Poehler’s character Joy is what everyone at Pixar is feeling right now since the animated film has grossed a whopping weekend debut of $155 million domestically. Pixar’s parent company Disney has kicked out the emotion of Sadness with the biggest opening since Greta Gerwig’s ‘Barbie.’

The Maya Hawke starring animated sequel has delivered a historic opening weekend collection and the biggest of the year surpassing ‘Dune: Part Two' ($82.5 million) and 'Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire’ ($80 million). It is also the first movie to earn more than $100 million since July 2023 with the opening of Margot Robbie starrer ‘Barbie’ which earned $162 million.

The sequel of the 2015 family comedy ‘Inside Out’ was projected to earn $80 million to $90 million.

The achievements of Ayo Edebiri starrer ‘Inside Out 2’ don’t end here. The film has also made history as the biggest overseas animated opening of all time. Connected with the international box office, ‘Inside Out 2’ collected $140 million overtaking ‘Frozen 2’which earned $135 million.
