After several delays, Shazia Iqbal's eagerly awaited directing debut, Dhadak 2, which starred Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri, finally debuted on the big screen on August 1.
Although the movie had a rather slow start at the box office, preliminary results from its second day indicate slight growth, despite fierce competition from Son of Sardaar 2.
According to the latest data reported by a trading website, Dhadak 2 collected Rs 3.75 crore on its second day. This comes after a modest opening day collection of Rs 3.5 crore on Friday. With this, the film’s total domestic tally currently stands at Rs 7.25 crore, still short of the Rs 10 crore milestone.
Despite facing box office pressure from other releases, the love saga appears to be drawing in a steady stream of viewers, thanks in part to its powerful storytelling and strong lead performances.
In terms of audience turnout, Dhadak 2 recorded the following occupancy rates in Hindi (2D) theatres on Day 2:
Morning Shows: 11.73%
Afternoon Shows: 25.61%
Evening Shows: 29.00%
Night Shows: 36.88%
The film chronicles the tumultuous and moving journey of Nilesh (Siddhant Chaturvedi), a Dalit law student who develops feelings for his upper-caste classmate Vidhi (Triptii Dimri). Dhadak 2 courageously addresses the realities of social injustice and the difficulties of intercaste relationships against the backdrop of caste and class divisions.
