Aamir Khan and Rajkumar Hirani, the acclaimed director-actor duo, are set to embark on a new cinematic journey: a biopic dedicated to Dadasaheb Phalke, the "Father of Indian cinema." This project aims to bring the extraordinary story of the man who laid the foundation for India's vast and influential film industry to the big screen.

Dadasaheb Phalke's contribution to Indian cinema is monumental. He is credited with creating India's first full-length feature film, Raja Harishchandra, in 1913. His pioneering efforts and unwavering passion paved the way for generations of filmmakers and established a cinematic legacy that continues to thrive. Despite his pivotal role, a comprehensive cinematic portrayal of his life has been surprisingly absent from Hindi cinema.

The upcoming biopic will unfold against the backdrop of India's independence struggle, adding a historical dimension to Phalke's personal journey. It will chronicle his remarkable rise from humble beginnings, highlighting the immense challenges he faced and the sheer determination that drove him to establish what would become one of the world's largest film industries. The film promises to be a powerful narrative of artistic vision triumphing over adversity.

Filming is scheduled to commence in October 2025. Aamir Khan, known for his meticulous approach to his roles, will begin his preparations following the release of his film, Sitaare Zameen Par. To ensure an authentic depiction of the era, VFX studios in Los Angeles are already developing AI-assisted designs. This will help recreate the visual landscape and atmosphere of the time period in which Phalke worked.
