Congress party's candidate Adoor Prakash has retained Attingal constituency in Kerala. Prakash defeated V Joy of CPM and V Muraleedharan of BJP.

Adoor Prakash won the seat in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections also securing 38 per cent of the total votes polled or 380,995 while his closest rival, CPI (M)’s Anirudhan Sampath, receiving only 342,748 votes. BJP’s Shobha Surendran got only 248,081 votes or 25 per cent vote share. This year, the BJP has fielded V Muraleedharan, a union minister for state while Congress party has fielded Adoor Prakash.

Attingal is one of the 20 Lok Sabha constituencies in the state of Kerala. It is a General Category parliament seat. The 2024 Lok Sabha elections is crucial for both the Indian National Congress (INC) and the NDA in Kerala. With 20 Lok Sabha constituencies in contention, the state saw polling on April 26, achieving a voter turnout of 70.35%, down from 77.84% in 2019.

According to the News18 mega exit poll, the NDA is set to open its account in Kerala by bagging one to three seats, while the INDIA Bloc is likely to win 15 to 18 seats in Kerala. Of this, 12 to 15 seats could go to Congress alone, the survey projected.
