Congress leader and Member of Parliament (MP) Rahul Gandhi on April 3 filed his nomination papers in Kerala's Wayanad for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Gandhi arrived in Wayanad earlier in the day and conducted a roadshow with his sister Priyanka Gandhi by his side.

While speaking in his constituency, Rahul Gandhi said that he is always with the people of Wayanad on all issues, including the human-animal conflict which has claimed many lives in this district.

Rahul, the sitting MP of Wayanad, also stated that he was always ready to bring the issues being faced by the people of the hill constituency to the attention of the nation and the world. He was speaking to the people, including party workers and supporters, who had gathered to be part of his roadshow.

The Congress leader is once again contesting the upcoming Lok Sabha polls from Wayanad constituency. In the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, Rahul Gandhi won after polling 7,06,367 votes out of a total of 10,92,197 with his closest rival -- CPI's P P Suneer -- receiving only 2,74,597 votes.

Earlier today, CPI candidate from Wayanad, Annie Raja also filed her nomination against Congress' sitting MP. Prior to filing the nomination papers, she also held a roadshow in the constituency.

BJP has fielded its state unit chief K Surendran from the constituency.

Voting in Kerala for the Lok Sabha polls this year will be on April 26.
