President of Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party (RLJP) Pashupati Kumar Paras resigned as Union minister of food processing on March 19.
While addressing a press conference, Paras said Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a tall leader, but injustice has been done to him and his party.
His resignation has come a day after the Bharatiya Janata Party favoured Lok Jan Shakti Party (Ram Vilas) and its leader Chirag Paswan.
In the seat-sharing deal, the BJP stayed away from forging any alliance with its ally, which had five MPs. Earlier, Paras had held several meetings with the BJP leadership looking for an appropriate number of seats to be allocated to his party in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
There are hints that Paras will have alliance talks with Bihar’s main opposition party Rashtriya Janata Dal, which is running an aggressive campaign in the state.
The BJP-led NDA will contest on 17 seats, while Nitish Kumar-led JD(U) will contest on 16 seats, Chirag Paswan’s LJP to contest on five seats including Vaishali, Hajipur, Samastipur, Khagariya and Jamui.
Bihar, which has 40 Lok Sabha seats will l go to polls in seven phases on April 19, April 26, May 7, May 13, May 20, May 25 and June 1.
However, the results will be declared on June 4. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is running for the third consecutive term at the Centre and has a set a target of achieving over 370 seats.
