A 17-year-old girl was bludgeoned to death by her father, a school headmaster, after she failed to secure good marks in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) in Maharashtra's Sangli district, News24 reported.
The deceased was identified as Sadhana Bhosale, a Class 12 student. As per the report, the incident occurred at Nelkaranji village in Atpadi tehsil on Saturday night. The accused, Dhondiram Bhosale, 45, was upset with his daughter for scoring low marks in the test, which led to a dispute between the two.
As per the report, when he asked Sadhana about her poor performance, her answer infuriated him. The teen had asked, “Papa, which collector did you become? You also had low marks.”
Following this, the accused grabbed the wooden handle of a stone grinder and attacked his daughter with it in the presence of his wife and son, PTI reported.
"The teen was rushed to a hospital in Sangli, where she died during treatment. The post-mortem report revealed that she died of multiple injuries," senior inspector Vinay Bahir of Atpadi police station said. Based on a complaint by the girl's mother, the accused was arrested, a police officer was quoted by PTI as saying.
As per News24 report, the accused kept beating his daughter mercilessly for the whole night. Sadhana was seriously injured, but despite this, her father did not take her to the hospital. Instead, he went to attend a Yoga Day program the next morning.
