Mumbai has been lashed by intense rain since morning, causing waterlogging in several parts of the city, including Gandhi Nagar and Kings Circle. Visuals showed flooded streets and railway tracks submerged under water.
Amid worsening conditions, Mumbai Police urged residents to avoid non-essential travel. “Waterlogging and reduced visibility have been reported in several areas. Police have been instructed to be on high alert, and help is available in case of emergency,” the department posted on X, sharing emergency contact numbers 100 / 112 / 103.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said emergency teams, engineers, and pump operators are working round the clock to ensure rainwater drainage and sewage systems remain functional. A helpline number 1916 has also been issued for residents.
Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has placed Mumbai and Raigad under a ‘red’ alert for extremely heavy rainfall.
