Chhattisgarh ASP killed, DSP among several cops injured in IED blast in Sukma

The ASP was on foot patrol duty in the area to prevent any Naxalite incident in view of the call for Bharat Bandh on June 10 by CPI(M).

An Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) was killed while several other police personnel and officers sustained injuries in a pressure IED blast triggered by Naxals in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district on Monday, News18 reported.

In the incident that took place near Dondra on the Konta-Erabor road, ASP Akash Rao Giripunje was critically injured and later succumbed to his injuries.

 

Two other security personnel, including the DSP and Inspector, were also injured in the incident. They are reportedly out of danger, the report added. Konta Town Inspector and Sub-Divisional Police Officer were also injured in the blast and are currently undergoing treatment.

As per the report, the ASP was on foot patrol duty in the area to prevent any Naxalite incident ahead of Bharat Bandh called by the CPI (Maoist) on June 10.
