In a sweeping late-night operation on Thursday, Bengaluru Police raided over 17 dance bars across the city following allegations of obscenity, illegal operations and other violations. The crackdown targeted establishments in the Central and West Divisions, including high-profile venues such as Club One, Ramba and Brigade Blue.
According to OneIndia, the raids were conducted after complaints surfaced about bars operating beyond permitted hours and forcing young women to perform "obscene dances." Police sources confirmed inspections were carried out in areas under the Cubbon Park, Ashok Nagar, S.J. Park and Upparpete police stations.
Public TV reported that violations included dancers performing "half-dressed" and bars staying open past legal closing times. Cases have been registered against establishments found flouting regulations, as part of a broader push by authorities to rein in illegal activities in the city’s nightlife scene.
Authorities have reportedly warned that criminal cases will be filed against those found guilty, with strict action promised against repeat offenders. Police have cautioned dance bar owners to adhere to regulations, emphasising the need to maintain public decency and safety standards.
