Tata Motors on September 10 announced massive cuts in the price of its electric vehicles portfolio as part of its 'festival of cars' campaign. The offer will be valid till October 31, the domestic carmaker said in a statement.
The automobile firm has reduced the price of Tata Tiago by Rs 40,000, Tata Punch by up to Rs 1.2 lakh and Tata Nexon by up to Rs 3 lakh, according to reports.
The automaker said the move will help in 'mainstreaming' electric vehicles in the country and accelerate adoption.
Following the cuts, Tata Punch EV will now start at Rs 7.99 lakh, while the Punch EV will cost Rs 9.99 lakh, the company said. The popular Nexon EV will be starting at Rs 12.49 lakh, the Tata group firm said in a statement.
The company said, with this special offer, it is bringing the prices of the best-selling Nexon.ev on par with ICE models as well for a limited time. "In addition, festive offers on Punch.ev and Tiago.ev have also brought their prices closer to that of their ICE counterparts."
Moreover, the carmaker announced that customers can enjoy 6-month free of cost charging at any of the over 5,500 Tata Power charging points across the country, "making both inter- and intra-city journeys hassle free as well as cost free".
Vivek Srivatsa, chief commercial officer, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd., said, “Our singular purpose at TATA.ev is to mainstream EVs, by breaking barriers and making EVs more accessible to regular car buyers. With these special, limited period prices, we are breaking the high acquisition cost barrier for EVs, and bringing EV prices closer to similar petrol and/or diesel-powered vehicles.”
The company had launched its Tata Curvv EV in August with a starting price of Rs 17.5 lakh, while the ICE variants launched in early this month began with an introductory price of Rs 9.99 lakh.
On September 9, the automaker had also announced discounts up to Rs 2.05 lakh on its ICE variants of cars and SVUs as part of the "Festival of Cars" campaign.
Under this, the company announced a price cut of Rs 65,000 on Tata Tiago, Rs 30,000 on Tigor and Rs 1,60,000 Harrier, the firm said in a statement.
The offer is valid only till October 31, according to the statement.
