JK Tyre & Industries has introduced India's first embedded smart tyres for the passenger vehicle (PV) segment, marking a major step in connected mobility and tyre technology.
Developed in-house and produced at the company's Banmore facility in Madhya Pradesh, the new tyres feature advanced sensors built directly into the tyre structure. These sensors continuously track key parameters such as air pressure, temperature and potential air leaks, providing real-time insights to improve vehicle safety, performance and efficiency.
The company said the technology aims to enhance driving safety while supporting longer tread life, better fuel efficiency and lower environmental impact. The embedded smart tyres will be available through JK Tyre's dealership network in the aftermarket, initially in sizes ranging from 14 to 17 inches.
JK Tyre & Industries Chairman and Managing Director Raghupati Singhania said, "The launch of our embedded smart tyres marks a defining milestone in JK Tyre's innovation journey. Backed by our strong R&D and manufacturing capabilities, this achievement reflects our commitment to advancing technology-driven mobility."
"By integrating intelligence at the very core of performance, we are transforming the way India drives, making mobility smarter, safer, and more sustainable. This development is a testament to JK Tyre’s unwavering focus on technological excellence and our vision to lead the future of connected mobility," he added.
The new offering builds on JK Tyre's earlier 'Smart Tyre' technology introduced in 2019 through TREEL sensors, which combined tyre pressure monitoring systems (TPMS) with cloud-based analytics. That solution has since been adopted widely across fleet and retail users.
With a presence in over 105 countries and 11 manufacturing facilities across India and Mexico, the company produces around 35 million tyres annually. JK Tyre ranks among the top 20 tyre manufacturers globally and continues to invest in R&D through its Raghupati Singhania Centre of Excellence in Mysore.
