Budget 2018: Govt to launch 18 schools of planning, architecture at IITs

The government has announced the launch of 18 new schools of planning and architecture at the Indian Institutes of Technologies (IITs) across the country,said Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in his budget speech. This is in addition to the two schools of planning and architecture announced by the government.

"These schools will act as autonomous institutes within the IITs," said Jaitley. India already has a School of Planning and Architecture in Delhi.

Apart from this, a new PM Research Fellows Scheme for B.Tech students has been announced. This, said the FM, will benefit 1000 students for a research followship.

With respect to the new educational institutions, Jaitley said that 24 new medical colleges will be set up and the aim will be to have one government medical college among every three Parliamentary constituencies.
