Zoho Corporation co-founder and CEO Sridhar Vembu has expressed his gratitude to Union Home Minister Amit Shah after the latter announced his transition to Zoho Mail, India’s homegrown email platform. The development marks a symbolic moment for India’s push toward digital sovereignty and self-reliance in technology.
Vembu’s message
Responding to Shah’s announcement on social media, Vembu shared a heartfelt post on X (formerly Twitter), thanking the minister for his trust in Zoho. “Thank you Sir, for your faith in us. I dedicate this moment to our hard-working engineers who have toiled hard in Zoho for over 20 years. They all stayed in India and worked all these years because they believed. Their faith is vindicated. Jai Hind, Jai Bharat,” Vembu wrote.
The message highlighted Zoho’s long-standing commitment to developing indigenous technology solutions from India, built by local talent without relying on external venture capital funding.
Amit Shah’s switch to Zoho Mail
Amit Shah shared his new official email address, amitshah.bjp@zohomail.in, requesting that all future correspondence be directed there. His adoption of Zoho’s services is being seen as a strong endorsement of India’s homegrown tech ecosystem, which has increasingly gained recognition for its reliability and security.
The move also aligns with the government’s broader “Strengthening Digital Sovereignty under the Swadeshi Movement” initiative. Earlier this year, IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and officials from the Ministry of Education also began using Zoho’s productivity suite for official communication.
