Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi released the Xiaomi 15 last year in its homeland and India earlier this year. Now, the company is gearing up to introduce the Xiaomi 16 by the end of 2025. Previously, it was reported that the Xiaomi 16 would get a periscope camera and a bigger display than its predecessors and now a new leak has shared details of the smartphone’s processor and battery.
Xiaomi 16 tipped to get a significant battery upgrade
Chinese tipster Wisdom Pikachu on Weibo has suggested that the Xiaomi 16 will be announced by the end of 2025. Further, the leak adds that the device will run on the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chipset or MediaTek Dimensity 9500 SoC, and both chipsets could launch before the phone’s release in the fourth quarter of this year.
Additionally, the Xiaomi 16 is expected to feature a robust 7000mAh battery, representing a notable enhancement compared to the 5400mAh battery found in its predecessor, the Xiaomi 15. Judging from the capacity, it’s evident that the battery is based on high-density silicon-carbon battery technology, which has been used in most smartphones in 2025.
Further, according to previous leaks and rumours, the Xiaomi 16 is expected to have a larger screen than its predecessor, which has a 6.36-inch screen size. Moreover, unlike the Xiaomi 15, which only comes with a 3x telephoto camera, the Xiaomi 16 could feature a periscope telephoto camera with 5x zoom capability.
