Samsung has announced a major security update ahead of its upcoming Galaxy smartphone launches, introducing new features designed to protect user privacy in an era of on-device AI and evolving digital threats. The updates, which will roll out with One UI 8, include Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection (KEEP), updates to the Knox Matrix ecosystem, and a quantum-resistant upgrade to Secure Wi-Fi.
AI security powered by KEEP
At the core of Samsung’s new security push is Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection (KEEP) — a system-level architecture that creates encrypted, app-specific storage areas. KEEP supports features such as Galaxy’s Personal Data Engine (PDE), Now Brief, and Smart Gallery Search by ensuring sensitive user data like routines and preferences stay strictly on-device. By isolating app data within secure containers and guarding it with Knox Vault, Samsung enables personalized AI functionality without compromising user privacy.
KEEP is designed to scale across Galaxy AI features, providing protection for other on-device tools such as Smart Suggestions. This reflects Samsung’s larger shift toward embedding privacy protections directly into system design, rather than offering them as optional settings.
Knox Matrix gets smarter
With AI becoming more interconnected across devices, Samsung is enhancing Knox Matrix, its multi-device security platform. Through One UI 8, the system can now proactively respond to threats: if a device is compromised, it will automatically sign out of the user’s Samsung Account to stop unauthorized access to connected services.
Users will receive alerts across all their Galaxy devices and can view detailed security status reports through a dedicated interface. Even older devices will now issue yellow-level warnings to help users respond early and prevent security risks from spreading.
Secure Wi-Fi goes quantum-safe
Samsung is also upgrading Secure Wi-Fi with post-quantum cryptography. Initially introduced with the Galaxy S25 series, this enhancement ensures encrypted communications remain secure even against future quantum computing threats. It protects key exchange processes and strengthens defences against “harvest now, decrypt later” attacks — a growing concern as quantum technology advances.
Additional Secure Wi-Fi features include Auto-Protect, Enhanced Privacy Protection, and a dashboard to track encryption activity over time.
