Samsung has announced the beta rollout of its One UI 8 Watch update, adding a range of health-centric features designed to help people track their wellness and lifestyle habits more effectively. The new update is currently available to a limited number of users through a beta program and brings with it a suite of innovations to aid both fitness and recovery.
Bedtime Guidance for better rest
One of the key highlights of the One UI 8 Watch is Bedtime Guidance, a feature that aims to help users develop a consistent and restful sleep routine. Drawing upon data from the past few nights — including a person’s circadian rhythm and “sleep pressure”— it suggests an optimal bedtime to maximize rest and recovery. It can be particularly helpful for those with irregular schedules, offering tailored recommendations to align their rest periods with their body’s natural rhythms. The feature also provides gentle reminders, prompting the user when it’s time to wind down and avoid staying up later than intended.
Antioxidant Index for healthy aging
Another addition is Antioxidant Index, a first-of-its-kind feature that lets you measure the level of antioxidants — compounds that help combat damaging free radicals — directly from your wrist. Using a specialized sensor on the back of the watch, it assesses the amount of carotenoids present in the skin in just a few seconds. Antioxidant Index not only reflects lifestyle choices, such as diet and UV exposure, but also lets you track progress over time. Whether you’re adding more colorful fruits and veggies to your diet or making lifestyle tweaks, this tool lets you see the effects nearly instantly.
More health-centric innovations
The beta update also includes Running Coach, which guides runners through personalized training plans. It assesses a runner’s fitness level and converts this data into tailored routines designed to safely progress toward goals — whether you’re training for a 5K or a marathon.
Additionally, the Vascular Load feature lets you gauge stress on your cardiovascular system while you’re resting. The watch measures fluctuations in the body’s circulation, offering a window into health that can be influenced by lifestyle, stress, and activity.
Together, these additions reflect Samsung’s ongoing focus on empowering people to manage their health proactively and holistically through technology. The One UI 8 Watch beta is available to a select group of users who opt into the program and will gradually roll out to more people in the future.
