Nvidia’s Jensen Huang says AI could make the four-day work week a reality

The AI boom may do more than inflate chipmaker profits — it could reshape the way we work. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang believes artificial intelligence will drive such sweeping productivity gains that a four-day work week could become the norm, echoing the social shifts of past industrial revolutions.

Nvidia chief Jensen Huang has suggested that artificial intelligence could usher in an era where four-day work weeks are not just possible, but inevitable. Speaking on Fox Business Network’s The Claman Countdown, Huang said the world is “at the beginning of the AI revolution,” a shift he compared to earlier industrial revolutions that permanently altered how societies function, according to a report by Fortune.

“Every industrial revolution leads to some change in social behaviour,” he argued. “Probably a transition to four-day work weeks” could be one of them.

But Huang doesn’t believe that shorter weeks will mean slower lives. AI’s real effect, he said, will be in freeing up time for companies and leaders to chase more ideas, not fewer. “I have to admit that I’m afraid to say that we are going to be busier in the future than now,” he noted, predicting that higher productivity will fuel new opportunities and more ambitious goals.

Huang’s four-day forecast isn’t without evidence. As per the report, Trials in the UK, US, and Canada show workers can achieve the same output in 33–34 hours, with productivity rising by as much as 24%. Burnout rates have halved, turnover has fallen, and sick days have dropped dramatically. In the Netherlands, a 32-hour standard week is already common, with employees and employers alike resisting any return to longer hours, according to Fortune.
