If you’ve been planning to buy a Nikon camera, now might be a good time to act. Nikon has announced that it will be increasing the prices of its products in the US starting June 23, 2025, due to tariffs on Chinese-made goods.
The company hasn’t shared exactly which cameras or lenses will be affected, or how much prices will go up, but the message is clear: expect to pay more soon.
In a statement, Nikon said, “Due to the recent tariffs, a necessary price adjustment for products will take effect on June 23, 2025.” The company added that it’s doing everything possible to limit the impact on customers and will continue to monitor the situation.
The decision comes after Nikon recently revealed that the US tariffs could reduce its profits by about 10 billion yen — that’s roughly $70 million. Other camera companies are also feeling the pinch. Blackmagic Design, based in Australia, raised prices last month and even dropped plans to build a factory in Dallas, calling the tariffs too expensive to work around.
Canon is also preparing for a price hike, though the exact timing is still being worked out. Like Nikon, Canon says the increase will apply to the US, at least for now.
Sony and Leica have already raised their prices, while Fujifilm has temporarily paused US preorders for several popular models. Lens maker Sigma, meanwhile, will roll out its own price adjustment on June 2.
So, if you’ve been thinking of grabbing a Nikon Z5 II or any other model, you might want to do it before June 23. With multiple brands adjusting their prices, camera gear could soon become a lot more expensive across the board.
