Nazara Technologies to take 100% ownership of Nextwave Multimedia

Nazara Technologies also plans to make investments into gaming-focused global VC firms Play Ventures and F4 Fund along with a casual gaming studio Pixode.

Nextwave Multimedia is the developer of the World Cricket Championship (WCC) franchise, which claims to be the largest mobile-based cricket simulation game.

Diversified gaming and sports media firm Nazara Technologies on May 24 announced it is buying 28.12 percent stake in mobile gaming subsidiary Nextwave Multimedia along with fresh investments into gaming-focused global venture capital (VC) firms and a casual gaming studio.

These deals are part of the company's efforts to scale up its gaming business, which founder Nitish Mittersain believes will be the biggest revenue generator for the firm in the coming years.

Nazara had first acquired a majority stake in Nextwave Multimedia in 2018 and increased its stake to 71.88 percent in May 2023.

Nazara Technologies is now buying the remaining 28.12 percent stake in Nextwave Multimedia for Rs 21.63 crore from founder shareholders PR Rajendran, R Kalpana and PR Jayashree in two tranches.
