Man orders MacBook Pro worth Rs 2.6 lakh from Flipkart, gets used device in a sealed box

Imagine spending Rs 2.6 lakh on a brand-new MacBook Pro and receiving an old, used laptop instead — not once, but twice. That’s exactly what happened to Devanshu Dhandhal, a customer who’s now calling out Flipkart publicly for the ordeal.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Devanshu shared his frustrating experience. He ordered the MacBook Pro from Flipkart, and to be safe, he even recorded an “open-box” video during the delivery. What he found inside shocked him — the box looked sealed from the outside, but the device inside was used and showed clear signs of wear.

Hoping it was just a one-off mistake, he requested a replacement. This time, he didn’t take any chances and unboxed the new delivery at the Ekart logistics office, right under CCTV surveillance. But unbelievably, the second MacBook was also used, with visible smudges and marks.

When he reached out to Flipkart’s customer service, they first initiated a return. But then things took a strange turn. Devanshu says the support team tried offering him compensation — Rs 13,000, then Rs 18,000, and finally 10% of the product cost — all of which he refused. Eventually, they rejected the return altogether.

“I was able to clean the smudges, but that’s not the point. The laptop wasn’t new to begin with,” Devanshu explained. Feeling cornered, he asked for 10% compensation just for the hassle — but Flipkart didn’t agree.
