While the internet has been flooded with memes poking fun at Apple’s rumored “Liquid Glass” project, Aravind Srinivas, CEO of AI startup Perplexity, thinks critics might want to hold off on the laughs, for now.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Srinivas shared his thoughts on Apple’s augmented reality (AR) ambitions. “Liquid Glass memes are funny. But Apple may have the last laugh with a world class AR glass and a unified OS across both the glass and the phone,” he wrote. He added, “Need to wait and watch.”
Srinivas’s comment comes as speculation grows around Apple’s next big hardware move—AR glasses that could one day replace or work seamlessly with the iPhone. While the idea of smart glasses isn’t new, Apple’s track record of turning early tech into everyday essentials like the iPhone, AirPods, and Apple Watch keeps expectations high.
The “unified OS” part of Srinivas’s post is especially interesting. If Apple does manage to create a single operating system that powers both the iPhone and AR glasses, it could change how people interact with their devices—maybe even how we see the world.
For now, though, all eyes are on Apple’s next move. Whether Liquid Glass turns out to be a game-changer or just another punchline, only time will tell.
