Reliance Jio has announced its JioCloud service in order to offer its customers an affordable cloud storage solution and also to power its AI services and features. The company has also announced the JioCloud Welcome Offer with 100GB of free cloud storage on the platform.
JioCloud isn’t alone, both Google and Apple have their own cloud storage solution, and both offer a range of features and services. And here’s how they compared to JioCloud.
Supported platforms
All three, JioCloud, Google One and iCloud are available on all the platforms. JioCloud can be accessed on mobile devices via the dedicated app, web and desktop. Apart from these, it is also available on JioPhone and JioSTB as JioPhotos.
Apple iCloud is also synced well across the entire Apple ecosystem including iPhones, iPads, Macs, Apple TVs and others. In Addition to these, the iCloud app is also available on Windows 11 PCs.
Talking about Google One, the service is also accessible via both phones as well as web and PC mostly via Google Drive. There’s a dedicated app for almost all the platforms.
Free storage
JioCloud will offer 100GB of free data as a part of the Jio Welcome Offer. Right now, users get 5GB when using a Jio number to access JioCloud and 2GB when using with Google Account or Facebook account. Jio will also offer more cloud storage for free. However, the prices are yet to be announced.
Google offers 15GB of free storage and up to 2TB with paid Google One membership.
Apple also offers 5GB free iCloud storage and up to 12TB with iCloud+ membership or Apple One membership.
Services included
Device backup: One feature that all three of them offer is device backup. JioCloud offers a device backup option and lets users free up the phone’s storage space. Google One also offers native backup features on Android devices, while Apple iCloud offers the same for Apple devices. However, iCloud isn’t available on Android, but both JioCloud and Google One are accessible on both platforms and can be used to back up data.
File transfer
All three of them also offer file transferring between two or more devices. Jio relies on JioTransfer feature that’s a part of JioCloud and allows users to upload and share files and data up to 2GB via email or link.
Google also enables this feature via Google Photos and Drive and the same goes for iCloud. However, iCloud’s functionality is limited mostly to Apple devices.
Other features like uploading files, sharing, encryption, etc are available on all three platforms.
