Indians and AI adoption: Twice as high as the global average in 2024, reveals Microsoft

A recent Microsoft study reveals that 65% of Indians have adopted artificial intelligence (AI) in 2024, which is more than double of the global average. The survey was conducted with 15,000 teens (aged between 13 and 17) and adults, in 15 countries.

Microsoft study has found that 65% of Indians used generative AI (GenAI) in 2024, more than twice the global average. The findings are part of Microsoft’s Global Online Safety Survey 2024, which analyzed AI usage trends based on responses from 15,000 teens (aged 13-17) and adults across 15 countries.

Millennials (aged 25-44) emerged as the leading demographic in AI adoption, with 84% using AI tools—an increase of 15% from 2023. The study also found that Indians primarily use AI for translations, work-related tasks, and education.
