A fresh wave of leaks surrounding Rockstar Games’ highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI has surfaced online, hinting at major gameplay upgrades, an expansive map, and new immersive features. While Rockstar continues to remain tight-lipped beyond the trailers, fans and insiders claim to have uncovered new details from recent unofficial leaks, offering a deeper glimpse into what the 2026 game might offer.
Expanded gameplay features
According to reports circulating on gaming forums and social media, GTA VI will reportedly bring back the 6-star wanted level, a fan-favourite mechanic absent in recent titles. Another returning feature is a “relationship bar,” resembling the honour system seen in Red Dead Redemption 2, which tracks player interactions and morality.
The leaks also hint at the introduction of body weight mechanics, expanded underwater exploration areas filled with treasures, and real-time interaction with the environment—such as the beer-buying scene shown in Trailer 2, which is now rumoured to be actual gameplay. Other familiar features from RDR2, like the greet/antagonise dialogue options, could also make their way into GTA VI.
One of the more notable gameplay upgrades involves character switching. The revamped character wheel allegedly lets players toggle between Jason and Lucia individually or control both characters in a “dual protagonist” mode, designed for coordinated heists and missions.
Updated map details
The new leaks suggest that Vice City will serve as the game’s central hub, surrounded by areas inspired by Florida’s geographical and cultural diversity, such as Ambrosia and Port Gellhorn. Contrary to previous speculation, the game will not include a Panhandle or a parody of Disney World. However, over 700 enterable stores and functional malls are expected, adding more depth to the open-world experience.
Additional features and removals
While the game may include male strippers and improved gore systems built upon RDR2, some previously rumoured features like dual-wielding, nude scenes, and prone movement have reportedly been scrapped. The storyline is said to be structured across five chapters, further reinforcing comparisons with Rockstar’s earlier narrative-rich games.
GTA VI release date
GTA VI is set to release on May 26, 2026, for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, with no confirmed PC release date yet.
