Flipkart’s Big Billion Days sale has slashed the price of the Google Pixel 8a, making it one of the most tempting deals this festive season. The phone, which usually carries an MRP of Rs 52,999, is listed at Rs 29,999. But with bank offers, exchange discounts, and cashback deals, you can get it for under Rs 25,000. That’s almost half the original price for Google’s latest “a-series” device.

On paper, this looks like a steal. The Pixel 8a is powered by Google’s own Tensor G3 processor, the same chip used in the premium Pixel 8 series. It comes with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage, a 6.1-inch Full HD+ OLED display, a 4404 mAh battery, and of course, the Pixel cameras that have long been praised for their colour accuracy and low-light performance. The dual rear setup includes a 64MP main sensor and a 13MP ultra-wide, while the 13MP front camera is solid for selfies and video calls. Plus, you get the latest Android software, with guaranteed updates straight from Google for years to come.

But here’s where you should pause before rushing to hit the buy button. While the Pixel 8a’s cameras and software are undoubtedly its strongest points, the phone isn’t flawless. The Tensor G3 chip, though powerful, isn’t as efficient as Qualcomm’s Snapdragon counterparts in terms of heat management and battery optimization. Heavy gamers or performance-focused users might find it lagging compared to rivals from iQOO, OnePlus, or Realme in this price range.

Battery life, while decent, isn’t class-leading either. The 4404 mAh cell can get you through a day, but it lacks super-fast charging support that many competitors under Rs 25,000 now offer. The design also leans toward minimalism—while that’s Google’s style, some may find it too plain compared to flashier phones available at similar prices.
