Google has introduced a new productivity-focused feature in its Gemini app, called Scheduled Actions. Rolled out on June 10, the feature is currently available for users subscribed to premium tiers—Google AI Pro, Google AI Ultra, and select Google Workspace business and education accounts. The update was first announced at Google’s I/O 2024 developer conference and marks a major addition to the app’s AI-driven utility.

What is the Scheduled Actions feature?
Scheduled Actions enable Gemini users to automate certain tasks at predefined times. Instead of repeatedly asking Gemini to perform routine actions, users can now schedule tasks once and have them executed automatically by the AI assistant. This transforms Gemini from a reactive chatbot into a more proactive personal assistant.

How it works
Users can set up tasks such as receiving a daily digest of unread emails and calendar appointments each morning or generating fresh content ideas—like five blog topics—every Monday. The feature supports recurring and one-time scheduled events. Users interested in sports can receive match updates on game days, while others may schedule Gemini to send award show summaries the next morning.

The Scheduled Actions can be set and managed through a dedicated section in the Gemini app’s settings. Google says this setup is designed to reduce repetitive interactions while keeping users organised and informed.
