Google Chat users can now spice up their conversations with stickers. Available both on the web and in the Chat tab within Gmail, the new feature is designed to make workplace and casual chats livelier and more expressive.
Stickers join the existing lineup of emojis, GIFs, and media attachments, letting users react with humour or warmth without typing a single word. The rollout applies to all Google Workspace customers, Workspace Individual subscribers, and even users with personal Google accounts.
How to add stickers in Google Chat
There’s no admin setting to enable or restrict stickers — they’re switched on by default for everyone. To send one, simply follow these steps:
- Open Google Chat on your computer (either in the standalone app or inside Gmail).
- Go to a direct message or space where you want to post.
- At the bottom of the message box, click the GIF/Stickers icon.
- Browse or search for the perfect sticker, and click to send.
Google says the feature aims to give users “more ways to express themselves,” bridging the gap between formal and friendly communication in hybrid workspaces.
