In a sign of how online dating is evolving, Tinder’s 2025 Dating Forecast suggests that astrology, tarot, and even pet compatibility are playing a growing role in how Gen Z and millennials assess potential matches.
According to the platform’s internal data and user surveys, 30% of young daters now check a match’s zodiac sign before a first date, and 16% turn to tarot cards for romantic guidance. In India, mentions of pets in Tinder bios have gone up by 7.6% over the past year—indicating that emotional cues like pet ownership are influencing how users swipe.
To tap into these shifts, Tinder India collaborated with tarot reader Jeevika Sharma to create a zodiac-inspired dating forecast—from the perspective of users’ pets. The light-hearted concept is backed by a more serious behavioural shift: nearly 20% of surveyed singles say they’re using vision boards to manifest specific partner traits, including “Golden Retriever love” and “Black Cat energy.”
“Today’s daters are looking for more than just chemistry—they’re paying attention to emotional alignment and lifestyle signals,” said Dr. Chandni Tugnait, Tinder’s relationship expert. “Being ‘good with pets’ or emotionally aware is emerging as a modern love language.”
As dating apps continue to shape how young Indians find connection, Tinder’s latest campaign reflects a wider trend: personal tech platforms evolving to meet not just social habits, but emotional expectations.
