Polish video game developer Techland has announced that Dying Light: The Beast, its next title in the open-world survival horror franchise, will now release on September 19, 2025, instead of its earlier confirmed date of August 22. Techland says that they are delaying the game so that they can polish it further to make it the best Dying Light game ever.

Dying Light: The Beast is a standalone title in the Dying Light game universe and is preceded by Dying Light 2: Stay Human. The open-world action survival game features Kyle Crane as the protagonist once again and is set in a new region of Castor Woods. The game will launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store). Those who’d purchased Dying Light 2: Stay Human Ultimate Edition will be able to play Dying Light: The Beast for free.

In a long news post on the Dying Light games website, Techland explained the delay:

“As we’re closing in on the launch of Dying Light: The Beast, everyone at the studio feels your excitement. More than 150 previews were published this week from journalists and content creators and their response was universally positive. We’re blushing about quotes like “nailbiting survival horror”, “absolute blast”, “project with a soul” and being called a “standout game of 2025”. It proved the gut feeling that we had already - we’re making a very special, fun game.
