Bungie’s sci-fi action MMO Destiny 2 is slated to get two “medium-sized” expansion packs from 2025 as part of the game’s Codename: Frontiers plan for the next few years. The two Destiny 2 expansions confirmed for 2025 are Codename: Apollo and Codename: Behemoth. The Codename: Apollo expansion pack will be the first to launch and will arrive in Summer 2025 while Behemoth will arrive in Winter 2025.

Releasing two Destiny 2 expansions per year is a part of Bungie’s new model for the game which also includes launching “four major free content updates” per year.

“This evolution aims to enhance the player experience through a new multi-year saga, introducing a non-linear story, more systemic innovation, and significant improvements to core game activities and rewards,”, the Washington-based game developer noted in the press statement.

Bungie has decided to go with the non-linear way with Destiny 2 expansions so that they feel less formulaic and add more replay value.
