NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang feels the ChatGPT moment for robotics is here. At the CES 2025, Huang in his 90-minute keynote compared how the upcoming advancements in robotics will be similar to ChatGPT that changed the way people use AI. He highlighted that the robots will become more capable and smarter
Jensen Huang announces new robotics platform for cars
During the keynote at CES 2025, Huang announced NVIDIA Cosmos–which is all set to take robotics and self-driving cars to a whole new level. He noted that Cosmos will machine foresee different scenarios, plan their actions accordingly and make smarter decisions. Cosmos is more about bridging physical AI into reality. This will let robots and autonomous vehicles function more independently and efficiently.
Cosmos will help developers, who may not have the resources, in integrating tools to train advanced AI systems from scratch. He stated that some of the popular companies like Hyundai, Uber, and several robotics firms, have already started using Cosmos to improve their products.
Huang said that just as how large language models or LLMs made AI useful for generating text, Comos will make robotics more practical and easily available. Cosmos will allow machines to process information like text, images, and videos to imitate real-world scenarios and plan actions accordingly.
Huan also announced Project Digits
Other than the Cosmos, Huang also talked about the newly launched Project DIGITS. It is a compact AI supercomputer, which has been designed to make advanced AI tools accessible for developers and engineers. Huang called it NVIDIA’s smallest yet most powerful AI system.
“We’re entering a new era for robotics,” Huang said. With technologies like Cosmos and DIGITS, robots could soon play a bigger role in everyday life, from improving safety in self-driving cars to transforming industries like manufacturing and logistics.
Huang ended his keynote by saying that the breakthroughs in robotics coming over the next few years will change how we live and work.
