ChatGPT image library

OpenAI has introduced a new image library in ChatGPT that helps users manage all their AI-generated visuals in one place. The feature, available on both mobile and web versions of the platform, is being rolled out to free and paid-tier users alike.

How it works
The newly added ‘Library’ section appears in the sidebar of ChatGPT’s interface. When opened, it displays a visual grid of all the images a user has generated in previous conversations. This enables quick browsing and access to artwork created over time.

The library is designed not just as a visual archive, but also as a workspace. Below the grid view, there’s a “Make images” button that allows users to begin a new image-generation session using text prompts. This opens a fresh conversation where users can describe what they want, and ChatGPT will generate visuals accordingly.

Tools and features
Each image in the grid includes interactive options for further actions. Users can edit, save, or share any image directly from the library. The “Edit” feature links back to the original chat where the image was created, letting users refine the visual by modifying the prompt. Another tool, “Select,” allows users to highlight parts of an image they want to change. This supports more targeted editing without needing to start from scratch.
