Apple has announced tvOS 26 at WWDC 2025, introducing a refreshed design and new features for Apple TV. The update brings a Liquid Glass UI, improvements to Apple Music Sing, personalized profile handling, and enhancements to FaceTime. Developers can access the beta starting June 9, with a public beta coming next month.
Liquid Glass design
tvOS 26 features a new design language called Liquid Glass. It offers a real-time rendering effect that visually responds to its environment, enhancing the viewing experience without distracting from content. Core interactions, including audio settings and playback controls, are now more visually engaging.
Enhanced Apple TV app
The Apple TV app now includes cinematic poster art that better showcases available content. The interface displays more shows and movies at once, improving discoverability. Users can also opt to have their profile appear when Apple TV wakes, giving quicker access to personalized content.
Improved sign-in and developer support
A new developer API links app logins to a user’s Apple Account, simplifying the setup process for apps, especially on new devices. This streamlines access to entertainment without repeated sign-ins.
Apple Music Sing with iPhone mic support
With tvOS 26, users can use their iPhones as microphones for Apple Music Sing. Multiple users can participate with real-time lyrics and on-screen reactions, making group sing-alongs more interactive. Lyrics Translation and Pronunciation features make the experience more accessible across languages.
FaceTime and communication updates
tvOS 26 integrates Contact Posters for FaceTime, bringing a familiar iOS-style interface to Apple TV. Live Captions are now available in multiple languages, including Japanese, Spanish, and Korean. FaceTime audio and phone call notifications also appear onscreen, with support for answering via connected HomePods or iPhones.

Availability
tvOS 26 is available for testing via the Apple Developer Program starting today. A public beta will follow in July, and the stable release is expected this fall as a free update.
