Just a day after introducing the new MacBook Air with the M4 chip, Apple has quietly stopped selling its older M2 and M3 models. These laptops, which were available on Apple’s website until yesterday, are now gone.
Apple first launched the M2 MacBook Air in 2022, followed by the M3 version in 2024. While you can no longer buy them as new from Apple, they may still be available in the company’s refurbished store for some time. They will be available on Amazon as well as Flipkart. In fact, one can even buy it from Reliance and Croma offline stores.
Apple says the new M4 MacBook Air is much faster than older models, especially when compared to Intel-based MacBooks. The company claims the M4 chip is up to 23 times faster than Intel models and twice as fast as the M1 MacBook Air. However, Apple has not shared a direct speed comparison with the M2 or M3 models.
One small but useful improvement is external display support. The M4 MacBook Air can connect to two monitors while its lid is open, while the M3 model could only do so with the lid closed.
The new MacBook Air with the M4 chip starts at Rs 99,900 and is available for pre-order now. It will be in stores starting March 12.
