Apple first previewed its next-generation ‌CarPlay‌ at WWDC 2022, and there are still signs that it might eventually launch at some point this year. In a statement given to 9to5Mac, the company reassured users that it’s still working with automakers to deliver it. There are references to next-generation ‌CarPlay‌ in the latest iOS 18.3 update released last month, and Apple has recently filed new patents for supposed CarPlay 2 in the EU database.

The company also added that “Each car brand will share more details as they near the announcements of their models that will support the next generation of CarPlay.” This confirms that Apple is working with various automakers to bake the system into their cars and connect it to the respective features.
