Although the iPhone's 20th anniversary is still a couple of years away, the company has reportedly big plans for that event as it is reportedly planning a bold design change with the iPhone 19 Pro models. While previous reports and leaks suggested that foldable iPhones will be launched next year, a new Bloomberg report suggests that foldable iPhones and ultra-thin iPhone models will hit the market in 2027.
iPhone 19 series to come with major redesigns: Key details
In his latest Power On newsletter, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman highlights that an iPhone Pro model with an ‘extensive’ glass design, fulfilling Jony Ive’s vision of an iPhone that would ‘appear like a single sheet of glass,’ is in the works. With 2027 marking the 20th anniversary of iPhones, we can expect something dramatic from Apple, as the Cupertino-based tech giant did with the iPhone X, which was launched in 2017 for the iPhone's 10th anniversary.
The company famously introduced Face ID facial authentication with the iPhone X, dropping the long-used fingerprint-embedded Home button. Therefore, Gurman adds that with the introduction of the iPhone 19 line-up, which will supposedly launch in 2027, the Pro models will follow the ultra-thin design language of the upcoming iPhone 17 Air.
Moreover, the report states that the ultra-slime iPhone 19 Pro will not be the only smartphone to be launched in the event, as we could possibly see a launch of a foldable version of the device as well. It remains to be seen what additional changes Apple will bring in terms of software and hardware in a couple of years.
