Apple is bringing a new charging-related feature to the Apple Watch with the release of watchOS 26. Much like the “Slow Charger” warning that arrived for iPhone users with iOS 18, Apple Watch will now alert users if charging performance can be improved.

The update was highlighted in a new Apple support page spotted by MacRumors, which details how the feature works and how users can optimise charging speeds.

According to Apple, if your Apple Watch detects that charging could be faster, a “Slow Charger” message will appear in Settings under the Battery section. The company stresses that this does not indicate a fault with either the Apple Watch or the charger in use. Instead, it is a notification that the watch could charge more quickly if a higher-wattage charger or improved setup is used.

Apple has outlined the official steps to speed up charging. First, users should opt for a higher-power USB-C charger and a compatible charging cable. Second, Apple recommends connecting directly to a wall outlet rather than using a hub, computer or in-car charging port. The reasoning is that power output is often reduced when chargers are shared across multiple devices.
