Manish Narwal won a silver medal in the men's 10m air pistol event at the Paris Paralympics 2024 on Friday, August 30. With this achievement, Manish has become only the sixth Indian athlete to secure multiple medals in the history of the Summer Paralympic Games.
The 23-year-old scored a total of 234.9 points to finish second in the men’s 10m air pistol SH1 final in Chateauroux. Earlier on Friday, Avani Lekhara claimed gold and Mona Agarwal won bronze in the women’s 10m air rifle event, marking the beginning of India's medal tally at the 17th Summer Paralympic Games.
South Korea's Jeongdu Jo topped the podium with a score of 237.4, while China’s Chao Yang took the bronze medal. Manish initially struggled in the first stage, starting with a score of 8.8 on his opening attempt but made a strong recovery.
In the final showdown for gold, Manish scored 8.9 on his attempt, while Jeongdu impressed the audience with a perfect 10.8, securing the lead. In his final attempt, Manish scored 9.9, but due to his earlier low score, he remained in second place despite Jeongdu's final score of 8.8.
