The world's oldest alpaca, Hawthornden Wainui, died in New Zealand, leaving behind his love and joy for those who knew him.  The beloved animal, who held the Guinness World Record for being the oldest alpaca in captivity, died peacefully on 26 September at the age of 27 years and 267 days.

Who was Wainui, the record-breaking alpaca?
Wainui was born on 2 January 1998 at Hawthornden Alpaca Farm before moving to New Zealand’s Wainui Bay with his mother, where he got his name. He later settled at the farm of his owners, Vicki and Alex Cordier, in 2002.  There, he spent his quiet and comfortable life with love and attention.
