NASA has confirmed that asteroid 2025 OU1 is on course. It will pass Earth safely on Friday, 26 July. The rock measures around 140 feet in diameter. That’s roughly the size of an airplane. It will fly past at 1.66 million kilometres away. Its speed is about 66,240 kilometres per hour. Though the distance may sound quite vast, scientists still pay attention. In space terms, this is close enough to track.

NASA has clearly said there’s no danger involved. The asteroid doesn’t meet hazardous classification criteria. To be considered risky, it must come within 7.4 million kilometres. It also must be over 85 meters in width. OU1 fails to meet both these conditions. Still, researchers are keeping a close watch. Slight shifts in orbit can bring new concerns.
