In a surprising turn of events, Jeran Campanella, a prominent flat Earth proponent, has publicly admitted he was wrong. His change of heart followed an expedition to Antarctica, where he observed a phenomenon contradicting his long-held beliefs.
Campanella, known for his popular flat Earth YouTube channel, joined “The Final Experiment.” The trip, led by Pastor Will Duffy, included flat Earth and globe Earth believers. The mission aimed to resolve debates about Earth’s shape through direct observation.
During the journey, Campanella witnessed a 24-hour sun in Antarctica. This experience challenged his theory, as the sun never disappeared from the sky. After observing this, he admitted the Earth is round and expressed gratitude for the trip.
“Sometimes, you are wrong in life,” Campanella remarked. “I didn’t believe the 24-hour sun existed, but I was wrong. The sun does circle you in the south. Don’t believe my past opinions; believe what you can see.”
The trip cost $35,000 (approximately Rs 29 lakh) and was life-changing. Campanella thanked Duffy for the opportunity, describing Antarctica as incredible. He noted that the moon might also follow a circular path.
Flat Earthers have long avoided Antarctica due to conspiracy theories. Many believed the Antarctic Treaty of 1959 barred civilian exploration to hide Earth’s true shape.
Austin Whitsitt, another flat Earth believer, shared his perspective. He clarified that the group never claimed Antarctica was off-limits. Instead, they argued unrestricted exploration wasn’t allowed. He acknowledged the safety measures required for such an environment.

Despite witnessing the 24-hour sun, Whitsitt seemed hesitant to discuss its implications. He described Antarctica’s beauty as breathtaking yet intimidating, understanding the precautions involved in exploring the area.
