In today's digital age, push notifications have become an ubiquitous feature of mobile applications, delivering reminders, updates, and promotions directly to users. However, their frequent and sometimes intrusive nature can be a source of frustration. Recently, comedian Vir Das voiced his annoyance on social media, urging quick commerce company Zepto to halt their incessant notifications in a hilarious way.
Emmy award winner Das took to Instagram to share a screenshot of the persistent notifications he received from Zepto. The screenshot revealed that the company had sent four notifications in less than ten minutes. One message read, "Vir: I am thirsty," while another stated, "You're like paneer." A third notification added, "You are so beautiful, Vir," and the last one asked, "Can we interest you in a cookie?" accompanied by a heart emoji.
Das humorously captioned the post, "I don't care if you're thirsty. Your eggplant needs to leave my mushroom button alone. I don't want my choco filled. I am not your paneer. Stop," followed by a laughing emoji. His caption also included a straightforward plea: "Zepto. Stop."
Zepto quickly responded to the comedian's post in the comments section, assuring him that the notifications would cease. "No more flirting with Vir. You've been telling everyone about us," the company wrote.
Since its upload, the post has garnered thousands of likes on Instagram. The situation resonated with many users, including fellow comedian Rohan Joshi, who commented, "Guys stop sending this to me pls." Another user quipped, "Bro is getting hit on by Zepto," while a third noted, "The best part is they're all within 10 mins."
The issue sparked further discussion, with one person sharing their similar experience: "Swiggy does the same thing to me." Another Instagram user remarked, "Finally someone spoke against this tyranny," and a different commenter expressed their frustration more bluntly: "Dude fr Zepto notifs are stupid intrusive. I regret ever giving them my number cuz every day they send so many SMS's. The spam is ridiculous.
