Dipa Karmakar shines, Bindra misses bronze at Rio Olympics

It was a mixed day for the Indian contigent at Rio Olympics 2016. While gymnast Dipa Karmakar qualifed for the final event on Sunday, marksman Abhinav Bindra missed scoring a bronze medal by a whisker.

It was a mixed day for the Indian contigent at Rio Olympics 2016. Gymnast Dipa Karmakar created history by being the first Indian to qualify for the individual vault finals in gymnastics. The final of the event is scheduled on Sunday.However, it was a tale of so-close, yet so-far for India’s ace marksman Abhinav Bindra. Bindra finished fourth in the 10 metre rifle shooting and missed the bronze by a whisker.

The Indian hockey team also slipped in the last minute of their match against Germany and lost 1-2.
