This week on Storyboard, CNBC-TV18 takes you through the latest on the NDTV-TAM battle. WPP, which jointly owns TAM India through its subsidiary Kantar, has said that it plans to sue NDTV for defamation. NDTV responded by saying that WPP's statement is a PR stunt.

Meanwhile, TAM is doing some swift damage control, and announced six corrective or confidence building measures last week. Animesh Das gets you more details.
On the Twitter front, the Government of India's block on several accounts has people buzzing with anti-government comments. #GOIBlocks and #Emergency2012 are two topics that have been trending worldwide on the social networking site.
All this was the result of the Department of Telecommunications’ decision to block 89 URLs, including 16 twitter handles. While the government believes it is justified, given the panic and violence emanating from the communal riots in Assam, liberals are up in arms against any form of social media censorship. Pavni Mittal brings more insight into that debate.
Meanwhile telemarketers suffer because of the restrictions on bulk SMS. Last week, to stop rumours and incendiary messages that provoked panic and violence, the government asked cellular operators to restrict bulk SMS and MMS to five per user per day. On Thursday, that was increased to 20. These restrictions will stay on till 31 August.
While the bulks SMS ban is aimed at curbing the panic, telemarketers and telecom companies are losing money. The Cellular Operators Association of India says telecom companies will stand to lose about 7-8% of their monthly revenues and telemarketers say that they are looking at revenue losses of about 30%. Animesh Das brings more on that.
