A software engineer who quit his job at Dell in Gurgaon to launch a company took to X to vent that none of his ex-colleagues congratulated him for taking the leap. Shashank Rustagi, now the founder of a resume creating company called ProfileCraft, attributed the lack of support from his former co-workers to jealousy.
"Not a single colleague at Dell congratulated me. If jealousy had a face," he shared on X. In separate posts, Rustagi explained that he had been writing resumes for other professionals as a side gig and it was only recently that he decided to take up resume writing as a profession. According to his bio on LinkedIn, Rustagi's tenure with Dell lasted for about two years.
As his post began to get more traction, the entrepreneur received a mixed response from X users. Some of them congratulated him on his entrepreneurial journey with a few employees from Dell who were not his colleagues also joining in.
"Congratulating you from my Dell keyboard. Kudos Shashank," wrote Asha Verma (@ashaspiration). "So, not in the same field but where I elevated in my career space, some of my closest friends didn’t congratulate me and stopped talking to me thereafter. Then I got married and had a baby, another few stopped contact and obviously didn’t congratulate me," commented X user (@DrPyaricetomol). "Identify the lot and cut your losses."
Several other X users, however, criticised Rustagi for being unprofessional.
"I can see where the professionalism in resumes comes from," wrote Shubham (@aShubhamz). "This also speaks volumes about culture; does someone deserve to be promoted if there is such a strong dislike from own team members? Just perhaps a sign when small individuals will succeed but teams will fail," commented Ashutosh (@ashutosh_agl).
